Unfortunately, for some of us, Real Life has a way of changing our plans. I’m one of those people. On June 21st I’m letting the Kaedara region of sims go. This is a 2X2 section of sims.
Reason being, is that RL is just too full for me, and I cannot handle enough to keep four sims going. I’ve rented out two other 2X2 single sims from close friends at Sunset Rentals, and am downsizing.
The sims will be my homes while in Inworldz, where Mystic and I privately hang out and breed our animals. Our sims are next to other friends of ours, so not all bad.
While I’ll continue to have Kaedara Breedables and maintain the group for both the breedables and Tempest Myst Designs sales, I will sell through markets and not at home. Except for the RFL fundraising events.
Later this year, I hope to get Tempest Myst Designs products listed on the marketplace.
This winter I may even start up another sim when it’s time for book releases. But that’s not a sure thing. I do know I won’t use Kaedara name for it. I’m thinking of changing the region name for the books from Kaedara to something else. That name has attracted a lot of questionables in social media.
The downsizing is going well, and I find I’m actually relieved. Not being able to do the work I need to for four sims was stressing me out. And I’m ready to give up the home based market.
In fact, I may stay low for awhile. Let things calm down a bit from some attitudes moving into areas. Yes, we do have some SL-tudes trying to move in and make things frustrating.
Just like all bad things, this will pass though. In the meantime, I’m just going to play and build in my own little corner of the world.
Here are some pictures of what’s been going on so far with the move.
Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017. It was fun, but I’m sure it’s going to get even more fun this year. Inworldz has been a great grid to be on. Great people, great service.
Big thing for 2017…Kaedara sims are going to the animals! *grin* For the most part. Of the oyo breedables, I’ve managed to keep over 250 retired animals. Inworldz is too small of a grid to expect a ton of traffic, and in my case, I sure don’t get a ton of sales from my builds. So, letting the animals take over most of the sims seems reasonable.
The Elvenglades sim still has the sales shops on it, along with yard décor and landscaping items. The huge Book Emporium building will remain, as will the newest Tempest Myst Designs building. Mystic’s Treasure Trove and gazebos will stay here. The children’s memorial stays put. Only thing left that I’m not sure of is the new Olde’ house set.
In addition, the Relay for Life (and T4T) sales corner is there. Only sales aren’t going for charity right now. The kiosks poofed at the end of the year. When I rez a new one, thinking it just would set for general fund, it poofs too. So…regular sales on oyos throughout year and special fundraisers twice a year now while the season’s active.
Still, it was fun and we did really well in 2016. We raised nearly 120K Izzies for Relay for Life from sim sales and 12k for Toys for Tots.
The story journey across the four sims for my fantasy series was cancelled and turned into a one stop freebie set on the Elvenglades sim. The visitor can still get everything that they could find on the story journey: the books and a book shelf for them.
Thinking the giver for that will stay at Elvenglades store sim.
The other sales sim, Lost Forest of Hudan, is almost finished. This sim is really gone mostly to the animals between our private areas above and the ground level. I’ve created different styles of tree groves and sized them 60X60, which is perfect for showing off lovely horses. Many of my retired and salt free horses are residing on the ground level now.
There are quite a few designed spaces for wild cats along the one end too. I’m adding to those also. I hope to be able to set out most of my retired wild cats there. I also plan on adding in an elephant setting. Most everything still needs pricing before it’s available for sale. And I need to rework the water builds. Having an issue with the permissions on them that I may need to get some help with from the other awesome builders on the grid.
When I get too far down on prim space I’ll use Enchanted Isles space for wild cats.
That seems odd. Saying one needs to economize on prim space in Inworldz. But that just shows how many animals I have. I have considered getting another sim just for them. LOL
Marion Margaret Press will still have a base of operations within Inworldz on Enchanted Isles, attached to the Silverwood Memorial area for Sandie Bergen. This is where I have the most work left to do. The set up needs to be altered a bit. MMP won’t be fully active in Inworldz, but may try to do something two to four times a year as a special event.
First event will be at the Club Twinkle, hosted by Matt and Kels Foxclaw. This event will herald the release of an anthology edition by Sandie Bergen. More detailed announcement will come once I have the exact release date and have procured the event date from Kels and Matt.
We have new store locations for our breedables and Tempest Myst Designs. Tempest Myst Designs is at Bluestar Breedables and Sunset Cove. I’m still setting up Sunset Cove location. Been bogged down by the end of the year paperwork for RL business. The breedables have sales locations at Bluestar Breedables and M&K Stables.
(Above two photos taken in ultra setting. Not working out so well for photos, looks amazing live though.)
The oYos have been a lot of fun to breed. My beloved Arion has less than a month of breeding to go. He will have given over 100 babies and be a bit diabetic from all the sugar he’s had. He’s given a lot of dawn dapples. I bought the nymph coated mare Chloe had and crossed her with him. I’m also building a nice line of nymph hair horses, some on dawn coat. Nymph coat has not yet passed. Hope it does.
The Christmas horses are passing their “kid” coats. I’ve gotten Faith and Joy so far from them. Think those come from the Love and Trust coats. I’m hoping to see the Wisdom and Hope coats pass me something too. And that the one hope horn I have passes.
The blackrose horn is passing well for me. The new texture for it has been handed in, but unfortunately Jenni hasn’t coded it in yet. Very sad about that. I was so looking forward to that horn. I’ll keep breeding them and stashing the bundles and hope they birth with the updated look. She never did respond to my prompt about if the current bundles are worth anything…whether they’ll birth with new texture or old, when she gets around to putting the code in anyway.
I birthed two more starter sets of morgans after getting notice to her that the eyes have not been passing. Mine have not started dropping yet, but Mystic let me know today one of her old starters passed the eye. I’m guessing this means that issue is fixed.
I’m thrilled with oYos. Love them to death. The Inworldz team is great. But doing a lot to keep both grids going at same time. Sometimes it stresses my patience to have to wait my turn. LOL But they do wonderful work.
The hairs are different now in SL for the horses. Barbie wanna be jokes to me. Yeah, I’m being rudely honest. Not holding back. Sorry. I breed for LLLL hairs. When I updated my LLLL sunset dapple in SL and had actual tears in my eyes at her ruination, I don’t feel compelled to play nice.
I sent a notice to Jenni right away telling her to count my vote as absolutely no to doing that in Inworldz if she does take opinions. I tried. I honestly tried to get used to it in SL. Tried to breed for LL which isn’t so bad. Tried for two weeks and then just had to heaven them all. Couldn’t deal with it. Total waste of my time and money there.
Why I’m feeding to retire so many in Inworldz. It’s my backup plan. If the others want the new hairs and they happen, I’m set to stop breeding so many horses and just enjoy the retired ones on my sims. Then just breed the specials with Tempest and the version ones with Marion.
Because, good news!! The Pegasus breeding still works with verson 1 horses. I got a black Pegasus yesterday. Maybe I’ll do more…we have tons of white unicorn girls to use yet. The version 1 horses are heavy on prims, but they’re not any worse on the sim performance than version 2 that I can see.
I have to say, if a person just has to keep breeding through the bad hairs in SL, the SS do look more natural than before and look very good on some of the coats. I’m keeping so many bundles in backup, just in case the mood hits me there. (And a small supply in IW as part of my backup plan.)
Speaking of hairs, evidently, the RFL Purple Hair was supposed to pass, but hasn’t. I’ve got Arion sugared up enough to have nearly 90 kids without the hair. Talked to Kels so she’d check with Jenni and boom! Today Arion with her dawn girl passed the hair onto a dawn. Looks fantastic! Arion’s got 25 days left and he’s going to be sugared like mad during that time. This late in the game, looks like it’s up to me to save the RFL Purple Hair from extinction.
There’s also new random coats and eyes out. I got an Ibis eye today. I would show it, but alas, the eye texture is not working. That baby is sent in to Jenni for repairs. Guessing I’ll get that back in the morning during her normal Inworldz’s check in time before she runs off for work. Does that woman sleep? I’m not sure…
Traffic has slowed and so have the oYo Breedables sales for RFL. Sort of expected that. Figured there would be a rush in the beginning and then occassional visitors until the rush to tip donations over the edge at the end.
I am disappointed with Dee’s Designs though. I’m not going to scrap it…the store stays to honor my mother’s successful fight against Breast Cancer, even if I’m the only one to enjoy it. It will remain and sales will continue to go to the RFL kiosk year round. IF any sales come about.
Shame too. I spent hours looking for some of the textures I used for pictures in there. At least they’re free TOS so I can use them on websites and whatever else I need, so not a complete waste of my time.
At this moment, Elvenglades kiosks have raised 61,100 izzies total. Not too shabby. In addition, Kels told me the oYo bundles I gave her for the first auction raised another 9500 Izzies. That’s good to know.
The bears are loved that I donated and she popped into the vendors. Not sure what those have brought in total. I think some were given away at the picnic and not sure where all the vendors are. Only one I know of doesn’t show but one sale of them, and I’ve had a lot of word of people loving them. Perhaps perms were not changed and they’re giving them to one another…don’t care. They can give to RFL kiosk on their own in return if so.
Kels has 15 Breeder’s Sets of wildz, horses, cats, dogs, and dodos to help finish the rest of the season from me. Of course, I breed way too many and will have more if she needs it.
I think I can call this “experiment” a success. My hope is to raise another 40k between now and the end of the season for an even 100K.
Those horse bundles still break!
The horse issue could hinder that, if I don’t find a work around. I just don’t have time to maintain loose version 2 bundles and spend the few hours or so it takes to send them in and then rename and price them when I get the new ones.
There was plenty of notice before this update, so I picked them up and then replaced them with wildz bundles that do not break. Only V2 horse bundles out now are boxed breeder’s sets, which don’t break for some reason.
Thing is, most of the small group of buyers want the horses. Being such a small group, losing the ability to provide the best selling product is hurting my oYo sales, and the RFL kiosk.
And the lack of knowing what is going on. Oyo isn’t noted for sending out notices and letting us know everything…they work more by word of mouth. So, those of us who cannot attend events/auctions or hang out to see chat all the time, do miss a lot.
(I just informed one other big oYo breeder of her broken bundles and she’s shocked. Knew nothing about it and wonders why there’s no notices to people, or anything being done. Jenni said maybe I should contact others about it when I see their bundles broken. Not my job, but maybe I will. The more that know their bundles are broken, the more they’ll request something be done about it. Or stop breeding.)
I’m left with no recourse, but to plan as if nothing will be done in the near future about this issue. Need to cut back anyway. I’m clearance selling some horses and have my stay at home breeders down to 58 now, with plans to cut that by ten to 12 per month until probably down to breeding about 20 at a time.
I’ve picked up others like sabers, bears, and elephants, so by the time I’m finished breeding for the goals I have set now, I’ll have probably around 75 animals total. A lot more manageable than the 200 I’ve had in the past.
Thinking I may just breed to retire ones for my displays and sales products, and to donate to RFL. It’s a shame no one is supporting Mandy’s wonderfully done sales area, so any sales spots I need will be there. I may keep a selection at Elvenglades for RFL year around too…depends on what happens after the after season sorting.
My work around for the v2 bundles will be to box them all – means that will have to wait until I can find time to take pictures for each one and set them up. I tested with ten loose ones out this time and kept the boxed sets out…9 of 10 loose ones broke, and boxed set ones were okay. Jenni is quick and fixed them right away, but still…
And shopping sucks anymore because other breeders just don’t check theirs. Most bundles at markets are broken. Although, I will admit, it does seem like less broke than before from this last update. Still many of them did.
He’s still alive!
We found someone who’s in contact with my close online friend and cover artist, Ron. I should have been informed but it seems that a windows 10 upgrade wiped out his contacts from his sister’s computer.
Ron’s been undergoing cancer related surgeries, with some hopeful results and some bad results I’m not at liberty to disclose. Around 4 weeks ago he had an ulcer burst and went into emergency surgery on top of everything else.
He is recovering and should have been entered into rehab yesterday. They hope to have him recovered enough to go home in a few weeks. Prayers still needed.
Or good thoughts…He’s Hopi raised so whatever you do, he appreciates.
God willing, I’ll be able to keep all four sims going for years to come. And maybe even add a few. We’re probably going to change jobs and move again, due to impossible circumstances we can’t seem to fix, much as we want to.
This is probably a good thing for us and our lives, so not wholy unwelcome. I just expect things to get pretty bumpy for awhile.
The unfixed bundle situation did make me consider cutting back and letting the sims go…and maybe it will if it’s not fixed. But I’m giving it time…as long as it takes for my current horses to retire, before deciding anything.
My sims are not doing well anymore in traffic. The store one is. The exploration ones are not.
Hudan I can understand. That one is picked up for new forest product to be built…not much to see there at the moment. The forest is being worked on in my build level during the few moments I get.
But the other two finished ones are not. The story journey across the sims appears to be a failure. It begins where the store traffic comes in. People just do not seem interested. That may have to become a freebie bookcase with all the books in it instead for visitors.
Enchanted Isles is my sanctuary and do not think I’ll scrap it. The Silverwood Memorial will remain on it, and so will Marion Margaret Press’s base, which still needs some work done to it. This sim may be my book series’s show off sim.
Moor-Knight will change though. Perhaps I’ll make it the castle sim, with a full castle and full of items for sale in it. People seem to prefer shopping versus exploring and hanging out in nature scenes.
I shall miss the bog and the bog lady’s house when it comes time.
Elvenglades stores will be developed out as planned. And at some point, the product out and more will be in the marketplace.
This is a winter project…perhaps not until after our forthcoming move to who knows where in real life.
It’s been a weekend of mixed feelings. The Relay For Life sales area is loaded up, but traffic was not good this weekend, causing me to question how this was doing.
It’s difficult to measure results with the oYo crowd. They have a pesky habit of not utilizing group notices to keep people informed for various things until last minute. Like now…there’s new elephants being coded in…minis! But how many know? Just the few of us who happen to be in when Jenni told us in chat. And this whole RFL season? Only Lord knows how it’s going to work because I haven’t seen anything telling us if there’s going to be future fundraising auctions or if we’re just skipping this one.
Which would be a shame. We raised over 600K last season.
I don’t think it would happen. I suspect it’s just quiet while Kels and Matt are gone for…whatever. Don’t know what’s going on there either. But the group does pull together when the band leaders are in town…just not much when they’re not, like now.
Still…my oYo RFL fundraising area has seen a little action, and it does feel good to toss the funds in the kiosk routinely. Right now, it’s around 9,600 izzies since the season officially started Saturday. (Pre season kiosk ended at 21,100 izzies)
There’s a new memorial wall for Digital Pixal in the area now too. Lazy sent me some of her bundles to donate to RFL.
I am cutting back on oYo critters yet again over the next month. I am at my happy place with them in regards to how many I have, but have changed my mind after a walk around my sims.
They’re costing me way more time than I should give to them. Cutting the number down by half again will get me down to a more acceptable priority. I’ve worked it out. I have a lot retiring within the 30 days and a good portion of them are flagged for going bye-bye at the end of the 30 days.
My walk around the sims left me feeling very guilty about neglecting my duties as a sim owner. So much is unfinished and has not been worked on in quite awhile. Time to change that and to get the sims set up properly.
For the time being, all my spare moments are spent tending to the RFL building on my sim and getting the first floor of the regular building set up. I promised an update ad through the group on that middle of last month and didn’t get there. Time to do that.
It seems there was a reason to do a last minute restart of all regions for internal updates, which is no issue for me. What is, is that obviously there’s a lack of communication or progress between oyo people and IW people about the version 2.0 issues.
I love both IW and oYo, but truly wonder how long I can justify this. Through the last two updates and any sim restart since then, the bundles break. I’m not speaking of one or two but loads. I get anywhere from 80 to 120 of them each time broken that has to be heavened, deleted, or remade by Jenni.
This time was 80 bundles I had set up for Relay for Life fundraising. I was able to birth a bunch to cut down on what I had to send in to Jenni. Those will be a flash sale through the weekend, for a lot less than what I would have sold the bundles for.
The market/grid size being what it is, I’m sure I’ll end up heavening most still after the sale. What a loss.
I am worried about my RFL efforts this year. And the lack of improvement in this situation. I’m proceeding very carefully, and thinking.
If things aren’t improved soon, I very well may give up the four sims and just do one mainland sim, or go back to renting a partial sim and do less in Inworldz. Dealing with things when the bundles break does cost me time I don’t have, and now my RFL set up time was compromised this weekend.
Hoping I can still get the special kiosks items made.
Forgive me if this doesn’t sound right. Not that I ever really sound right. LOL But I have been fighting the stress migraines for the past few days.
Lots of family interruptions to my game time and Relay for Life planning. My husband and I each have a parent who seem to be on their final days of life, so there’s a lot of extra days off to deal with that.
We have a trip for his family planned this weekend and then hopefully it will be quiet for awhile to let us recharge. What sucks is that it’s not a happy trip, due to that family member definitely short on time and very unwell, but also that it’s our anniversary weekend.
We’re trying to plan something for US for next year as best as we can. For years, we’ve had no real vacation, just using days off for family needs. It’s wearing on us.
At inworldz, there hasn’t been much progress made. I was on a limited computer for a week, so no time to build. Nonetheless, I did do a bit of adjusting to Dee’s Designs and the RFL oYo sales area.
After I get back next week from this trip, I finish building product for RFL sales and sort the oYo I have for the RFL sales area. It looks like I’ll have over 200 bundles to sort through.
Everything is out at the sales down area. My hope is that some people visit and buy some to help me with my sorting needs. Gaining two weeks worth of food while I’m gone wouldn’t be terrible either. After the RFL set up is done, none of my continued costs will be recouped with sales, as it will all go to RFL.
If this goes well, I’ll do it again next year.
Not only is this something I’ve wanted to try in forever for RFL, but also a way of protecting myself should the grid grow to handle a larger secondary market for the oYo breedables.
There’s insane, stupid market drama in SL. Should that move over, I do not want any part of it. If all my sales are going to charity they dang well better leave me alone and let me put what prices I wish to do so on them.
But…the Inworldz market is very, very small. This means there’s not many places to breedable shop. Only one market seems to carry more than I do. Others are a lot more sparce.
Mystic pointed out how people will miss our selection if I cut it down too far. So, I’ve readjusted Dee’s Designs corner to make the oYo section bigger. I still won’t get to fit in all the bundles, but by boxing some into sets and creating some matching sets to donate to oYo’s RFL auctions, I should still offer a decent sized marketplace for people to shop. And where they can feel good buying from since it goes to RFL.
My plan is to have all built and set up to have the Dee’s Designs and oYo Sales for RFL area open mid-July.
Building the Hudan Forest may take me until end of the month. I’m custom building trees and sets to sell throughout the forest.
The oyo museum is on Hudan side now. Thinking I may get rid of the building and spread the unicorns and pegasi throughout the forest instead.
This, of course, depends on how quiet it is after this trip. We know we have two funerals, at least, to deal with for parents this year. I also may schedule in a few more 400 mile trips to see my parents before then too, if I get the chance.
Time for a happy post. Posting updates is getting tough, as work time is heavy and keeping the sims up is taking all the time I can spare. So I apologize, for many of these updates will need to be a mix of everything instead of one theme during such times. And shown with mostly pictures.
My first idea with the four sim set up was to have all the breedables sales at sky level for sake of lag control. I do a ton of breeding so this meant spreading the sales area across four sims.
Turned out to be a lot of work, and seemed like a lot of work to ask my shoppers to do. So, I gave in and made Hudan sim all breedables. Horses, dogs, cats, dodos, and pigs are in sky level. Wild Onez are on ground level.
Wildz sales have dropped dramatically since the version 2.0 horses came out. Traffic to their areas have also. But they work nice on the sim.
In the books, the main scene on Hudan is the Lost Forest of Hudan. So I’ve done my best to make the sim a light forest theme to match. This is done by setting up trees and tree sets for sale along the sim border. Be a great setting to have a trail through the woods, sales areas in open meadow sections, but thought with the scripted animals on the sim, that may be too much for lag control. This works.
The horses have been good to me. I’ve gotten a lot of fun out of breeding them. There’s so many fun trait combinations to get this time that I’ve bred over 200 so far and just begun to settle into where my specialties will lay.
The Elvenglades sim that houses the Elvenglades stores has been adjusted to take in the garden, yard decor, and landscaping items. Work is still going on with that sim so some items are not for sale yet. Soon though.
Dee’s Designs is my priority at the moment. This store was named after my mom who has battled breast cancer for a few years, and was declared cancer free this year.
Dee’s Designs will feature items that will only be sold via RFL or Breast Cancer kiosks, if those become available too. Plus 50% of sales of the other items inside the store will go towards the kiosks.
I’ve stayed with the pinks and purples of Breast Cancer and RFL support of times past for the theme. Along with a strong butterfly theme. Seems appropriate for flying to freedom from cancer to me.
I spent a lot of hours searching for product and textures I haven’t used before. Some of the textures I’m using are interesting public domain textures from the internet. Others from Alternate Metaverse Creations, Bad Katz, Twisted Thorn Textures, Dover, and more.
Next to Dee’s Design is the Garden of Hope for lost children.
I kept one full sized home decor building at the Elvenglades and will make new product to go with some of the old to fill it with. The book emporium stays, of course. I’ve already added a new line of shelves to the first floor there.
Right now I’m working on the new landscaping and yard decor products for Elvenglades. A few things came over from Hudan, but most will be boxed up and sold in a greenhouse or gazebo for them.
Someday after this current heavy workload is done, I’ll get onto the marketplace and offer the stuff I don’t offer on the sim too.
Elvenglades is bordered on some sides by large tropical style plants. The Elvenglades in the books has large trees with similar style leaves.
On the Elvenglades sim is the starting point to a 13 book story journey across the four sims. It’s easy to do. Get the first book and it gives you a copy of the book to keep at home, plus the direct LM to the next book in the series. Each book does the same. Then the 13th book of the series gives you a prize to go with them, rather than another LM.
The other two sims the book journey takes you through are Enchanted Isles and Moor-Knight.
Enchanted Isles are where my myads live. This sim depicts both myad and elven reproduced scenes of the book. The main building is also the Inworldz headquarters of Marion Margaret Press with Sandie Bergen’s memorial forest behind it. This area is still in development so more coming soon.
Moor-Knight is home to the Knightens in the books. Mostly an exploration sim. I’m building more information guides for the dock area, and the small castle section is the Memorial Hall. This a general memorial area for friends and family. Still being developed out also.
Enjoy exploring…look for Kaedara region on the map or any of the four sims:
